Slow Food in West Cork – fast action!

The West Cork Slow Food Convivium has started 2007 in great form:

The Slow Food Road Show filmed by RTE at the Kinsale Farmers’ Market at the end of March and shown the Six One News and Nine O’Clock News on Easter Saturday.

A fantastic day last Sunday at Hosfords Garden Centre where the sun shone and the crowds stopped the traffic along the Bandon to Clonakilty “Highway”.

The first of a series of evenings at Urru Culinary Store in Bandon on the theme of Discovering Local Produce was held on Thursday night.

And I have just turned off Ryan Tubridy on RTE having enjoyed Clodagh McKenna passionately debating Slow Food ànd Farmers’ Markets with her host!

Slowfood Road Show

There was a very successful Slowfood roadshow last Tuesday at the Kinsale Farmers’ Market. RTE brought the sunshine along with their cameras and will be screening some footage on the Six-One News tomorrow, Saturday March 31st. The Farmers Journal was there also covering the morning.

The purpose of the roadshow was to let people know a little about who and what Slowfood does, and to recruit new members. Check out the websites at www.slowfoodireland.com and www.slowfood.com to discover more and to sign up!

Slow Food Visit

This Sunday, December 10th, the Cork Convivium of Slow Food is having its festive lunch at Deasy’s Pub in Ring near Clonakilty; on their way they will be calling in on us at Inchybridge for a pre-lunch taster. I am just hoping that the weather forecasters have got their predictions all wrong for Sunday!

If anyone is interested in joining in last minute, phone Simone at 021 4505819.

We are madly smoking 7 days a week around the clock, so a brief interlude with maybe just a petite coup of a gorgeous wine from Febvre Wine Merchants will be most welcome!
