Gold *** at 2010 Great Taste Awards

In July 2009 we smoked our first trial batch of duck breasts from Silver Hill Foods in Co. Monaghan. We didn't smoke another batch until just before the Good Wine Show in Cork on November 13/14th. We took some up to the Wine Show to sample and to see what people's reaction might be.

So we ordered a quantity of Duck Breasts right away and we smoked them on the day of the floods, November 19th. A cheeky tweet went out:

"Its a great day for ducks in West Cork and we are smoking our first commercial batch of Smoked Duck! Maybe a good omen?"

And one final comment seen on Twitter shortly after we released Ummera Smoked Duck:

"OMG. @ummera smoked duck breast. As Bill Hicks said 'I found my brand' ;-)"

And now we have our Gold Award, and a 3 Star Gold Award at that!
